Zelenskiy Reports Positive Progress with U.S. Envoys, Highlights Diplomatic Push

During a brief stopover in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy described a recent meeting with United States envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner as "very positive." The conversation took place while the president was en route back to Kyiv after a series of talks in London that included leaders from Britain, France and Germany.

In a succinct Telegram post, Zelenskiy thanked the U.S. representatives for their “readiness to work as actively as possible” in the coming weeks, noting that their discussions were aimed at accelerating diplomatic efforts to end Russia’s war against Ukraine. He added that the U.S. envoys were supportive of a proposed meeting between Ukraine and Russian President Vladimir Putin – a step seen by many as a potential avenue toward a ceasefire.

Meanwhile, European leaders also emphasized the importance of a European role in any settlement. The talks in London concluded with the three heads of state endorsing the meeting proposal between Kiev and Moscow, thereby reinforcing continental solidarity in pursuit of lasting peace.

Although U.S.-brokered talks have stalled in recent months – partly due to President Donald Trump’s focus on other geopolitical concerns – Zelenskiy expressed optimism that renewed U.S. engagement would help steer Ukraine toward a diplomatic solution.
